Billings Forge Community Works builds community by providing opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another, share their concerns and accomplishments, and influence what happens where they live. Our program is therefore a direct result of expressed community needs.

Family Clubhouse

Family Clubhouse is located in an apartment within the Billings Forge apartment complex.   Frog Hollow Residents gather for community meetings and can participate in sewing and breakfast clubs. The Clubhouse offers information sessions on and support with a number of family needs including, applications for SNAP and School Choice, job searches, or just to find a friendly face to talk with.

Community Circles

Community Circles is an initiative that brings together people to have targeted discussions over family-style meals to raise concerns, bring awareness, and take action together.   A resident-host brings together 6-10 people who meet three times to discuss a problem and a solution.

Family Nights Out

Family Nights Out is a monthly, bi-lingual cooking class offered for Frog Hollow residents. These classes encourage families to cook healthy recipes using kid-friendly techniques. Participants then share a family meal.

These onetime family cooking classes are also offered to school groups and other organizations as part of our Youth in Partner Programs.

Frog Hollow Night Market

Night Market is our newest initiative and brings a market-style event to Frog Hollow once a month on a Monday evening. Night Market features the Hartford Food System’s Mobile Market along with a number of other information tables, music, kids’ activities, and free, light refreshments.
