The Artist Workshops

2. Lend a hand at Open Studio Night (first Thursday of each month) – your assistance helps make it possible for visitors to stroll along our brick alleyway and to enjoy our artists' creations.
3. Create a Community Art Project – let your imagination be your guide

The Farmers' Market

1. Help with set-up and/or breakdown – we can always use extra sets of muscles and helpful hands on Market Day! (May-October set-up anytime between 9-10:30am Thursdays; November-April set-up between 2-3pm Thursdays)
2. Be a customer greeter – welcome Farmers' Market shoppers and invite them to try some of Connecticut's best.
3. Conduct surveys to collect data that helps with our grant reporting.
4. Help staff our table at the Winter Market where we sell food from The Kitchen; you'll also take pre-orders for prepared meals.

The Kitchen

1. Be a greeter and assistant at cooking classes – know your way around our kitchen (tasting encouraged!)
2. Help with customer service at the café
3. Assist with large catering orders, as needed
4. Help to promote the Café – lead a sampling/tasting, or pass out flyers and menus at local businesses to help spread the word

Other Opportunities

1. Data entry – would you believe there are more than 1200 people on our Billings Forge mailing lists? If details are your thing, there's always updating, merging, and purging to help keep us current and efficient.
2. Assistance with mailings and general office work ¬– this is important work that keeps Billings Forge moving!
3. Graphic Design – if you have an eye for design, let's talk. This can be a virtual job helping with occasional projects like program ad design. You'll need to work with the existing brand identity and guidelines that dictate how Billings Forge collateral looks and feels.
4. Volunteer Coordinator – There's a growing interest in volunteering at Billings Forge, and we need someone who is willing to support our fantastic volunteer staffers. Responsibilities include:

  • Interviewing potential volunteers to assess skills and match them to program needs;
  • Communicating with managers from each of our initiatives to cultivate and manage volunteer opportunities; and
  • Creating and executing a strategic plan for recruiting, screening, training, supervising, evaluating, retaining, and thanking our volunteers.
